Though the stand works smoothly and has no bends, and the mercury is intact and it still tells temperature, the backing glass has a number of cracks. It has been repaired such that all the glass is securely in place.

My goal is that when you want a piece of antique Tiffany Studios, you think of Antique Tiffany. You can buy with confidence here that the piece is exactly as described. Please keep in mind that all Tiffany New York pieces — Tiffany Studios (or Tiffany Stvdios as it was once written), Tiffany Furnaces, Tiffany Favrile glass, and antique Tiffany lamps — are about 100-years-old or older and were handmade, so even brand new they often had unique aspect: thickness of glass, bubbles in glass, inconsistent coloring, etc., that add to their diversity and distinctiveness, adding to their value. As such, I always detail any potential issues, and the photos are a very important part of the description.
